The Baltic Sea Philharmonic turns ten years old today. On 4 June 2008 we gave our first concert, in the Latvian capital Riga, on the occasion of the Summit of the Council of the Baltic Sea States. Our second concert came just a few months later, on 21 September, when we opened the Usedom Music Festival. We’ve come a long way since those first performances: today we give around twelve concerts every year, touring internationally, across Europe and beyond; we’re performing large-scale symphonic works from memory; and we’re creating immersive concert experiences that fuse music with spectacular light, sound design and projection art. In a decade of progress and development, some things have stayed constant: the orchestra’s Founding Conductor Kristjan Järvi remains our inspirational Music Director; our fundamental mission to unite people across the Baltic Sea region has never wavered; and so many supporters, partners, coaches and musicians have stood by our side through the years, and to them we offer our sincere thanks.
